PURPOSE OF POSITION: Assist with guiding residents in choosing a balanced nutritional meal selection, assist with follow through with speech therapist and dietitian, and ensuring clear communication of diet needs and preferences to the rest of the Dining Services Team.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understands basic diets and their coordination with the menu and diet needs. Accurately documents each residents meal request using the provided software and tools.
- Addresses each person by name. Assists in explaining menu options and ensures meal orders are taken and documented in required timeline.
- Print and provide required reports for Dining Services Team to use in determining amount of food to prepare. Update diet changes into order system daily and follow correct process for filing or shredding all paper forms.
- Ensures new residents orders are taken as soon as possible, and all last minute orders or changes are communicated to the appropriate staff promptly.
- Completes all documentation required of the position accurately and timely.
- Performs routine cleaning tasks as directed.
- Disposes of expired food inventory in each neighborhood, communicates issues and concerns with neighborhood teams as needed.
- Operates dishwasher following proper procedures and guidelines. Uses proper sanitary procedures in ware washing and delivers clean dishes and utensils to proper storage areas.
- Follows correct processes to ensure safety and protect the lifetime of all kitchen equipment.
- Participates in audits and plans of correction as directed.
- Adheres to departmental dress code and practices acceptable personal hygiene.
- Follows established fire/disaster safety policies and procedures; participates in fire drills and disaster evacuation plans as needed. Follows established safety precautions when performing duties and when using equipment and supplies.
- Participates in departmental meetings, huddles, and in-service training as directed.
- Follows appropriate chain of command and does not contribute to unproductive actions. Complies with departmental and organizational policies and procedures and acts in accordance with St. Paul Elder Services, Inc.’s Corporate Integrity Program.
- Notifies appropriate personnel of defective equipment and any repairs or supplies needed using appropriate reporting steps.
- Maintains confidentiality of position per HIPAA security and privacy regulations.
- Identifies with, shares in and is committed to the mission, core values and objectives of St. Paul Elder Services, Inc. and its sponsor, the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
- Follows established infection control and universal precaution practices, report symptoms and illnesses immediately, and reports for testing as directed by leadership and Infection Preventionist.
- Completes miscellaneous duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
Must have the ability to read, write, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
Proficient in computer, tablet, and printer use, able to troubleshoot issues.
EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience in elder care work environment desirable.
Prior experience in food service industry desirable.
Prior experience with therapeutic diets desirable.
Customer service experience desirable.
